The hedonism of a nation's leader is SERIOUS BUSINESS.
That said, I wanted to do this mainly because I remember the first episode of SHIGURUI [Death Frenzy]; there was this specific sequence in the first episode where there was a line of people bowing at the Shogunate's feet... and even though no one said anything, you could really tell how angered they were by the decision to have the martial arts tournament with real swords; the look on everyone's faces was more than enough to convey the frustration of not being able to contradict the decree.
Really interesting series; can't wait to pick it up on Blu-Ray in a couple of weeks.
As for this...
Yeah, I honestly think it's funnier when you take it completely seriously, but if you read the dialog, it's just REALLY ridiculous.
That said, I'm liking this quick and dirty style more and more... I can actually get the angles I want to use with relative ease (though, I'm still not to the point where I can emphasize the architecture of a character's face, however).
